Japan Concept Srl Launches EF Polymer at Macfrut 2026

Japan Concept Srl officially introduced EF Polymer to the European market during Macfrut 2026, held in Rimini, Italy. The exhibition provided an ideal opportunity to present the innovative biodegradable hydrogel technology to growers, distributors, agronomists and technical specialists from across Europe.

EF Polymer is the world's first fully biodegradable hydrogel produced from upcycled fruit-processing residues. Developed in Japan and manufactured in India, the product has been designed to improve soil water retention and nutrient efficiency while eliminating the microplastic residues associated with conventional synthetic water retention polymers.

During the exhibition, visitors to the Japan Concept stand learned how EF Polymer functions as an agricultural hydrogel, absorbing water and dissolved nutrients during irrigation or rainfall and gradually releasing them back into the root zone as the soil dries. The technology has attracted increasing interest from growers seeking solutions for water saving agriculture, improved irrigation efficiency and better water stress management.

Applications for EF Polymer include vegetables, strawberries, blueberries, vineyards, citrus orchards, olive groves, avocado production and tree nurseries. The product can be used in both annual and perennial crops and is particularly valuable in regions facing increasing pressure on water resources.

Macfrut also provided an opportunity for Japan Concept Srl to establish new commercial contacts and discuss potential trial programmes with growers and distributors throughout Europe.

Following its successful launch at Macfrut, Japan Concept Srl will continue to develop demonstration trials and provide technical support to customers seeking sustainable solutions for improving crop resilience and water use efficiency.
